Under the patronage of H. H. Sheikha Fatima Bin Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, Chairperson of UAE Women's Federation and Chairperson of Arab Woman Organization, Federal National Council will organize the second regional conference for parliamentary women and decision makers’ women in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in collaboration with International Parliament Union. This conference will be held due to new circumstances in Gulf politics with respect to woman participation in both legislative and executive establishments.
It is also held in response of Gulf Cooperation Council leaders to strengthen women role and her participation in politics. The conference aims to follow up the development of Gulf woman in the field of political participation and her participation in parliamentary elections. It is a great opportunity as a forum of parliamentary women and decision makers’ women in Gulf Cooperation Council countries; in order to meet and discuss skills of parliamentary and political participation. This aims to strengthen woman awareness about politics and discussion of challenges facing Gulf women in politics, and how to overcome them and achieve experience exchange.
This conference is one of series of conferences organized by International Parliament Union for discussing women issues in Gulf Cooperation Council countries and developing women role in all fields, especially in politics and political participation in parliament. The Union organized the first conference in July 2006 – in collaboration with Bahraini Shoura Council – titled “Regional Forum for Parliamentary Women and women Leaders in Gulf Cooperation Council Countries”, during 4-5 July 2006.
This conference will be organized in United Arab Emirates, as the second phase titled “The Second Regional Conference for Parliamentary Women and for Women Decision Makers’ in Gulf Cooperation Council Countries”, during 30-31/10/2007.
